Iran has launched a surprise military drill with army special operations forces near the country’s border with Turkey, Iranian state television reported.
The drill, which is held in Qushchi in Iran’s Western Azerbaijan province, is overseen by the chief of Iran’s army, Maj. Gen. Abdolrahim Mousavi.
The exercises included rapid reaction units, mobile and offense brigades, and helicopters, ISNA reported.
The announcement of the drills comes as Turkey says it is about to launch an offensive into northern Syria.
